Scheduled to be completed later this summer the new Bauer Honors Commons located in Melcher Hall at the University of Houston is beginning to take shape. The walls are up and the donor wall has been framed in as well. The project’s scope includes two classrooms, two offices, a reception desk, and a large space called “The Hamill Foundation Commons Room”. This area is specifically designed for use by Bauer honors students during the day and for mixers by the College after class hours. A recent renovation “surprise” during demolition was the revealing of lower windows on the outside wall allowing for the commons area glass to go from the floor to the ceiling. A 3Form paneled cloud piece will highlight the commons space as well.
