Audio :: The Truth

I found a gem of a podcast recently, and thought it would be extremely selfish of me not to share it with the rest of you. I know podcasts come a dime a dozen, and most are easily forgotten, but I assure you this one is worth holding on to! It’s an American Public Media show called “The Truth”. Now don’t be alarmed, it’s not some “political” podcast, as my co-worker initially assumed after hearing the name. Instead, The Truth is fiction.
It’s a little hard to explain what The Truth is exactly. Their slogan asserts that they provide “Movies for your ears”, and to be honest that’s probably the most accurate description of the podcast. On their website they explain that they’re in the business of making of short films without pictures, and I believe they do it well! Each vivid fictional short story film is about 15-20 minutes long. It is very creative, and unlike anything I’ve ever heard before. In a hyper-realistic world that leaves little to the imagination, The Truth’s fiction lets the imagination soar.
The first story I listened to was titled Moon Graffiti. I actually heard it while listening to another favorite podcast of mine, NPR’s Snap Judgment. Moon Graffiti is an award winning sci-fi story that imagines what the outcome would have been had the Apollo 11 mission ended tragically.

After Moon Graffiti I found myself quickly going through each story, and before I knew it I had listened to them all. Now, like the rest of the fans, I am left anxiously awaiting the next awesome release! The stories are available both online and via podcast. Check them out, and please try to take it one story at a time. Enjoy!
