This week’s theme for the Pics of the Week is a bit of an oxymoron, but the Urban Wilderness sounded like a challenging subject knowing where to look for it. Nature and the built environment are always interacting, either subtly or quite forcefully. Typically one is in retreat of the other, causing friction at these edges. For example, this conlfict can be seen where development takes over native land, forcing wild animals to modify their behavior and interact with the new environment. Or something as slow as the natural regression of an abandoned building returning to the earth by way of an invasion of carpenter ants and vegetation.
