Out & About ::: notsuoH (Downtown Houston)
4 February 2011, 15:17
Initiated by an invitation from a friend to go watch their band play, Nick and I made our way out Friday night to notsuoH in downtown Houston. The venue, the original 1930’s Clark’s / Dean’s Credit Clothing storefronts, was a great combination of music, art and vintage architecture. A long and narrow venue (I wouldn’t be surprised to find a place like this somewhere on the East Coast) was filled to the brim with various art work and wonderful little nooks. One area had a chess board for patrons to play, a shoe shiner and even a wall of board games. The best part of the entire evening was the musical stylings of Folk Punk band Jason Bancroft and the Wealthy Beggars (shout out!); their music is such a wonderful combination of instrutmental skills and vocals you will not find anywhere else. From The Wealthy Beggars the music went on to country musician Zachary Diedrick and Days N Daze, who rocked out on a washtub bass, wash board, grungy acoustic guitar and trumpet. One word to describe this particular band live, amazing! Leaving that evening really made me appreciate the bands that are here in the city and the venues that support them. So, go on and enjoy some photos of the night’s events.
