I ♥ NYC ::: Architecture
22 October 2009, 14:10
As mentioned in my previous post I saw a lot of new architecture on my recent visit to New York City. This was certainly a big year for Manhattan with the opening of the much-anticipated High Line, newly transformed Lincoln Center, The Museum of Arts and Design and the Cooper Union Academic Building.
The High Line was by far my favorite piece of new architecture. It’s a wonderful urban intervention that ties well with the eclectic layers of the city that it winds thru. Every detail has been designed with a similar language from the bike racks to the water fountains. It has a very un-New York calm and quiet about it that seems to draw people to walk along it all times of the day.
That said there were definitely many interesting things to appreciate about all the current new built work.
