Gingerbread Build Off 2013

In December, our office participated in the 5th annual AIA Gingerbread Build-Off. We wanted to present a design that would reference the profile of an archetypal gingerbread house without approaching it with traditional means.
By splicing and distributing its 2-Dimensional profile across a 3-Dimensional field, we were able to create a model that could appear as both a sculptural field of gingerbread towers, and a traditional gingerbread house. The project became a great team building experience as we battled against the cold weather and high winds. We also quickly learned that clean edges are incredibly hard to maintain. Though we did not receive an award, we completed what we set out to do and are very happy with the results. Take a look at the pictures below!
