For some of us wallpaper has long been forgotten as an interior design finish; however, interestingly enough, the scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Bayer are claiming that the EQ-Top Seismic Wallpaper they’ve developed can save lives! I love the idea that wallpaper, merely a form of ornament, can be transformed into an integral part of the building assembly. This seismic wallpaper is made up of interwoven glass fibers and applied to masonry walls with a special adhesive that contains water and polyurethane beads. In conjunction, these two elements create a flexible covering that helps to distribute complex loads and strengthen the wall.
