It is difficult to stay in a long relationship with anything, whether it is furniture, your home, and in many cases, music. Through an ever changing stream of sounds on our radio, iPods, etc., we sometimes find it difficult to commit to the overwhelming diversity and evolution of music today. In cases like these, for me it is always better to go back to the select few that remain classic.

It was 1996 when I first listened to Everclear and here it is 2009 and I can still put on World of Noise and love it just as much as I did then. World of Noise is a tormented storybook told by lead singer Art Alexis, very emotionally and unshakably poignant. Like many evolving bands, the sounds of this particular album do not portray the Everclear of today. Alexis brings a raw energy, clearly un-influenced by mainstream product. The combination of grunge/alternative rock, associated with the early nineties, with occasional unusual instrumental moments, created an album for me that had surprises around every corner.
