Audio ::: Andy McKee

Last week I went with some friends to a concert in the Woodlands to see “some guy that my friends knew, but I had not heard about…” Andy McKee. It turned out that this guy, who is still in his twenties by the way, is considered one of the world’s finest acoustic guitar soloists. He is extremely popular on YouTube and at one point he held the #1, 2 and 3 positions for Top-Rated Videos of All Time; there are dozens of videos that I recommend you check out.
The night was an absolute surprise to me. I am not a musician and typically don’t like soloists – they normally put me to sleep after two minutes.
Andy McKee was totally different. Though his ability is not speed, he has a very unique sensibility and his songs are full or rich variations, like full stories. Sometimes it feels like you were listening to a full band. He is very humble and makes listeners feel the joy he feels as he plays. He mentioned that he started playing electric guitar and has many influences, including 80’s music and heavy metal!
He really entertains both the everyday music fan and guitar aficionados. If you ever have a chance to see him live, don’t miss it. I absolutely recommend it.
