2009 AIA Sandcastle Competition & BRAVE
8 June 2009, 21:50
This past weekend, the AIA Houston chapter held the 23rd Annual AIA Sandcastle Competition in Galveston, Texas. This also marked BRAVE / ARCHITECTURE’s first appearance at the event as a participant. Amongst the larger, more sculptural designs at the event, was B/A’s ambitious design for a “Sandscape”. Although the team encountered complications early in the construction, they finished strong and were able to produce an inspiring design that was certainly fresh outlook at what a sandcastle could be.
Though the project was a massive undertaking the members of the B/A clan enjoyed ourselves. It was a great opportunity to hang out as a group and enjoy the day together. The “Sandcaspe” was not the original design idea for the competition, but keep a look out for a future post about the process of getting to our final design.
