BRAVE / ARCHITECTURE is pleased to announce that Christian Sheridan, AIA, was awarded the 2015 Ben Brewer Young Architect Award by the AIA Houston Chapter. The Ben Brewer Young Architect Award recognizes individuals for their distinguished service to the profession and their significant influence on young professionals in their first 10 years of practice. This award was first announced to the public at the 2015 Celebrate Architecture Gala held this past April and we could not be prouder of Christian.

In the few years that I’ve been at BRAVE / ARCHITECTURE, I’ve had the opportunity to work with Christian on multiple projects and see firsthand the qualities that the Ben Brewer Young Architect Award recognized him for. There are undoubtedly more qualities than I can list in a “short” blog post, but I’ll name a few:

- His devotion to architecture (which is obviously a must)

- Exceptional communication and leadership skills. Sarcasm included.

- Community involvement to encourage others to achieve their goals

- Enthusiasm to learn and improve

This list is, of course, only what I’ve learned about Christian. And I would like to think that in the time I’ve known and worked with Christian, I’ve acquired knowledge that will help me in my career (I might have even picked up some sarcasm along the way.)

On another note, AIA Houston Chapter was not the only organization who took the time to recognize Christian for his exceptional contributions. The Young Architects Forum also hosted a mixer in June to recognize Christian for receiving the Ben Brewer Young Architect Award. It was raining extremely hard that night, but that didn’t stop us from celebrating! There we met other aspiring architects/designers and had a great time with a friendly game of bowling. Thank you to those who came out that night and celebrated with us!

Fun didn’t stop there! Last month Christian was featured in an article by Texas Society of Architects in their Architects Talking to Architects series. Check it out below or see it from the source at Texas Society of Architects. So next time you see Christian, be sure to congratulate him with a handshake, thumbs up, or even a high five! And if you’re unable to congratulate him in person, leave a comment for him. He will definitely appreciate it.
